📖 My Review 📖

A Fairy’s Quest is a paranormal romance by Maya Tyler. It follows Alina Lerher, a fairy, and Rylan Jackson, an assasin for the royal court, as they attempt to unravel a century’s old mystery and restore the fairy crown to it’s rightful place. Unfortunately, Alina and Rylan are on opposing sides of this battle. Alina wants to restore her family to the throne and Rylan wants…Alina.

So, what did I think of A Fairy’s Quest. It was a cute romance, if not a bit confusing to me at times. I really enjoyed the flashbacks from when the crown was originally stollen. It felt a little like a historical thriller.

I found myself absolutley absorbed while reading the backstory from a century ago. But I felt a bit lost when reading the present day story.

There were times I thought there were too many flashbacks, but at the same time they all put important pieces of the story in place. Jumping from the past, to the present, to Alina’s childhood, to a few months earlier was a little much, but after I got into a reading rhythm, I was able to read it easier.

My favorite part in A Fairy’s Quest is when Alina learns what her fate holds when she is a child. When she is told by Acacia, that she sees Alina all grown up and holding the fairy crown. It was in a flashback but it made me smile for some reason, imagining the delight on her face as a child.

A Fairy’s Quest can be read as a stand alone novel. But I think some readers will want to read the first two novels from the series, A Vampire’s Tale and A Wizard’s Choice

There is mild sexual content, but nothing extremely explicit and little to no offensive language in this novel.

I would recommend this novel to both adult and young adult readers of paranormal romances. It is moderately paced and a quick read at only 135 pages.

Read an excert from A Fairy’s Quest by Maya Tyler

I’m going to Paris, the city of love. Maybe I’ll even have a passionate love affair.

“Bonsoir.” Alina jerked her head up at the sound of the stranger’s lilting French accent.

“Hello.” Hello, handsome. Did my imagination conjure this hunk?

“First trip to Paris?” His pronunciation of “pah-rhee” rolled off his tongue like honey.

“Yes.” Alina twisted in her seat to get a better look. Her perceptive eyes sized up her companion. He was a gorgeous specimen of a man. Dark brown, shaggy hair. Hypnotic brown eyes. Strong jawline. Just a hint of stubble, like he had shaved that morning. Stop staring.

“What gave it away?”

“The guidebook in your tote?”

“Yeah. That’ll do it.”

“Business or pleasure?”

Alina flashed him a suspicious “you’re a stranger, I’m not telling you anything” look. He threw his arms up in mock defeat.

“I am Rylan Jackson.” He extended his hand.

“A—” Wait a minute. I don’t need to give him a real name. It’s a good time as any to try on a new persona.

“Allie.” She picked an alias, not so different than her real name, before reaching out to shake his hand. His hand was warm, rough, like he used his hands to make a living. Touching him sent a buzz of awareness swirling through her body.

“Now, we are friends, oui?” His sultry smile disarmed her objections to the friendly conversation. It can’t hurt to flirt a little while I wait for my flight. It’ll be good practice.
