My Favorite Book and How I Would Cast Its Movie.

Welcome back to Lamon Reviews. As you may know I am participating in the Long and Short Wednesday Weekly Challenge. This week we are discussing our favorite books and casting decisions.

I really enjoy reading classics, like Pride and Predjudice, but it may be one of my favorites right now because I recently went on a binge of rereading, watching almost every movie adaptation, including the 1940 version with Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson. I didn’t like that one much but it followed all the beats of the book and subsequent movies.

My favorite version is the one that cast Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth Bennett. If I needed to cast a strong female protagonist, I would cast Jennifer Ehle (Solely from that performance, and I think she is pretty.)

Although one of my favorites, it is not my favorite right now. My absolute favorite books is one I read the beginning of last year. Scream Catcher: Web World by Christy J. Breedlove. I think about it more than most other books I have read. I really like that it is unique and I have not come across another series like it.

This picture is for the second book in the series. Not ScreamCatcher: Web World

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, SreamCatcher: Web World. Unfortunately. I couldn’t give you a list of people to cast a live action version for all the gold in Atlantis. I searched to find Native American actresses and actors for the main character and side characters, but no one fit the images I conjured in my head.

A subsequent issue that I realized as this topic came up is I can’t, off the top of my head, name multiple Native American actors. I will endeavor to change that in the future, but for right now… I’ll google it!

I googled Native American actors and immediately saw Althea Sam and Alex Rice. They still didn’t fit my imagination. Althea Sam would be a good cast for Jorys mother, but I didnt imagine her until Dream Chasers. And Alex is not what I invision when I think of Jory!

So, I am back to where I started, with no cast.

My excercise in imagination has failed. But just because I can’t think of a cast for my favorite book, doesn’t mean you can’t. Tell us in the comments what your favorite book is and who your dream cast would be.

And As Always…

Go forth, dear readers, support your favorite indie authors and encourage reading and literacy.
