Welcome back to Lamon Reviews.
Today I have my book review and book for 2022 #ReadHarder challenge by Book Riot. Are you participating in the #ReadHarder challenge?
Read Between The Lines by Rachel Lacey
The book I was suppose to read for this years challenge was The Bookworms Crush by Lisa Brown Roberts. I am currently on my libraries waiting list, so I may not read it for a few weeks, maybe earlier. I still want to read The Bookworms Crush because of all the good things I have heard about it.
This ended up being literally, the book I didn’t know I wanted to read. It is adorable and I loved it. Check out my review below!

Rosie Taft owns a wonderful bookstore, aptly named Between the Pages, with wonderful employees and great clients. There is nothing she could imagine doing with her life other than this. Her one wish is to find a girlfriend that is as great as the heroines in the romance novels written by her favorite author, Brie.
Jane Breslin is a romance author by night, and works for her father at Breslin Property Development by day. When she has to terminate the lease of the beautiful Rosie Taft, owner of Between The Pages book store, the second thoughts begin and she isn’t as alright with her job as she once was.
Can they overcome the strangness of their first meeting and make this relationship work? Will these two have a connection straight out of a romance novel?
So what did I think?
I enjoyed reading Rachel Laceys writing. I especially liked the angsty moments. This is one of those book where you continue reading because you want to know what will happen next. Laceys characters are well written, relatable, and fun to read.
I like the relationship that Jane and Amy has. Amy is a great confidant and supporter of Janes writing. I found an easy comparison between Amy and Jane, and Rosie and Lia. Strong female friendships are a strong theme in this romance.
The romance between Rosie and Jane is wonderful. Both ladies are so romantic at heart and the romance blossoms easily. Although each are going through a rough time for different reasons, the romantic buildup made this a great read for me.
My favorite characters are Lia and Jane. Jane has an outward appearance of a confident coorporate badass, but then is just so sweet and adorably romantic and socially awkward that her character is just perfect for this novel.
On the other hand, Lia is exactly what she appears. She is so intelligent and a wonderful best friend helping Rosie all the way. Of all of Rosie’s friends she is my favorite.
There is the occasional sware like sh*t and f**k, but those are rare and far in between in the novel. I recommend Read Between The Lines by Rachel Lacey to anyone that loves queer angsty romance.
“…it’s only a building. You’re the heart of Between the Pages—you and Lia—and you’ll keep that heart beating whether it’s here or in a new location.”Lacey, R. (2021). Read Between the Lines: A Novel. United States: Amazon Publishing.
