You write about Love. What do you wish for readers to learn from your books about love?
I learned that the fear of love often relates to fear of rejection. I wish to connect my readers with the opportunity to discover love, not so much romantically, but rather from a context that “Love is in everything we do.” Perhaps it will allow the meaning of love to reveal itself with a light and tender place in their eyes.
I remember a quote that supported my perspective about fears. I was probably about 26 or 27, living in NYC, juggling between dreams and fear of rejection. Not everything works for everyone and yet at the right moment, it’s like someone turned on the light switch. A friend gave me an amazing poetry book to see if it will strike a chord. I still dive into it from time to time. I can see all my remarks like “OMG” and things like that LOL.
The author often names fears “Dragons.” I learned that “Dragons” are lost in the lack of self-nurturing or self-belief. “Perhaps all dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love.”
— Rainer Maria Rilke

I think Olive and the Valentine’s Spell sounds like an adorable childrens book. The idea that Valentine’s day needs to be defeated is awesone, but I’m totally biased. What about you? What do you think of todays childrens book? Let me know in the comments below.
